Alabama Hills, California [4K UHD] | Tuttle Creek Campground | Lone Pine | Mobius Arch
In this episode we visit the beautiful Alabama Hills of California. Don’t miss seeing the beauty of this area!
🏞 The Alabama Hills are a scenic area near Lone Pine, California, known for their unique geological features. The landscape is filled with rounded granite boulders and eroded hills contrasting with the sharp peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The hills were formed over millions of years of weathering processes that sculpted the granite into its current shape. The area is popular for hiking, rock climbing, camping, photography, and off-roading. This is also a well known filming location for many movies, including westerns with actors like John Wayne.
⛺ We stayed in Tuttle Creek Campground, a great choice for camping near the Alabama Hills. Tuttle Creek CG is located just outside Lone Pine, California, on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, with the Alabama Hills to the east. The campground offers 83 campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts. From this campground we had some of the best views ever. One of our most favorite!

      We saw a lot of heating oil for sale in the far north, so we are sure that is a common fuel for winter heat in some areas, but we aren't sure about Dawson City specifically. We were in Minnesota along the North Shore a couple of weeks ago! Our videos run quite behind, but there will be one from there in the coming months. Stay tuned!

    Hi Guys, loved your latest program. Could you help me with a question on your power system? I have a Honda EU 2000 like yourself in the identical Travel Trailer but my Inverter/ Charger has trouble accepting the current from the generator ( keeps cycling on and off). Did you have similar difficulties and if so is there a configuration work around? Thanks.....Pete

    • @AlaskanRamTravelAdventures
      @AlaskanRamTravelAdventures Місяць тому

      Hello Pete and thanks for watching. Are you using a neutral to ground bonding plug with your generator when connecting the generator to the trailer? If you are using a surge protector along with your generator, you will need one of these devices to allow the trailer to accept the generator power. We use an inexpensive one from Amazon. I have created an Amazon affiliate link you can use to direct you to it. amzn.to/3Uy4vD6 This gets plugged into one of the electrical outlets on your generator and you plug the trailer into the other empty electrical outlet. This device electrically ties the neutral and ground terminals together in the generator output to simulate shore power. Let us know if you have questions or need a different solution.

    I'm new to lithium and had a question about the alternator isolation switch. Is this required when using a lithium battery? I just got thru installing lithium in place of AGM batteries.

    • @AlaskanRamTravelAdventures
      @AlaskanRamTravelAdventures Місяць тому

      Thanks for dropping us a comment. The Lithium battery isolator accomplishes a few things...It keeps the Lithium house batteries from running down your starter battery when the engine is not running (isolates the two systems). The device also prevents over-heating of your engine's alternator. If you run large gauge wires from your Lithium batteries to your alternator, you will want to limit the rate of charge to prevent premature failure of the alternator from over-heating. The Lithium battery/s will accept current at a much faster rate than lead acid, putting additional strain on the alternator from the increased current flow. The LI-BIM device we use limits the strain on the alternator by cycling on-off-on the charging current to the Lithium house battery/s. However, if you are only charging through the 7-pin trailer connector with small 10GA wires, you may not need to limit the charge current. The small wire size will automatically reduce the current flow. If you are just connected to the alternator thru the 7-pin connector, you will also either need to disconnect the 7-pin trailer connector from the tow vehicle during times when the engine isn't running, or you will need to use a battery isolator like the LI-BIM we mention.

    Ну, столько золота, говорят, и в подмосковных ручьях намыть можно. А вообще-то видео отличное - я увидела Доусон-Сити как на ладдони

    One of our favorite side trips on the way to Alaska. Beautiful clear water. Can see everything on the bottom. Clear, crisp, air! A must see!

    Wonderful video. You mentioned the elevation being around 8100 feet, its more like 2700 feet and change.

    Great info👍 The only thing I would add, is if your going to break a tire seal, maybe get some bead sealer. Cheers

      Thanks for the suggestion. We were able to get them all to seal back up without the need for bead sealer.

    Can l take a day tour for veldel from Anchorage

      We aren't sure what kind of tours are available. There might very well be a flight tour there, but it is a five and a half hour drive from Anchorage to Valdez, so we wouldn't recommend a day trip by road. We actually allowed ourselves several days to go the distance since there are so many amazing sights along the way. Sorry we can't be more help, but we didn't do any formal tours in the area.

    We covered the same places in our RAM Van in reverse order, driving up on the Cassiar, and down on the Alaska. We got to the Salmon Glacier, opened the back doors (with screen) and had a great evening. We actually saw mini icebergs floating down the river. you say next time? We are going back 2024, hope to see you there.

      It sounds like you had an amazing trip! We won't make it back in 2024, but hopefully within the next few years. One trip to Alaska is definitely not enough!
